Home Page:  http://www.creepertrailcampground.com/
WHEN:  September 16, 17, 18

For those working on the HIKING Merit Badge, a 20-mile hike is being planned by Kurt Pearson.   Hikers can waive the $23 bike rental fee.
  • The Virginia Creeper Trail is possibly the easiest, prettiest mountain bike ride you will ever encounter…..it is actually the "retired" rail bed from a discontinue railroad.  We are planning the Whitetop, VA to Damascus, VA section which is 17 miles, almost all downhill. You'll have to pedal the last 3 miles as it flattens out a bit.  It is a really good time and we hope to get a good turnout between Troop 65 and the Webelo 2s!
  • The Outdoor Committee has made reservations for the weekend of September 16, 17, 18 at the Creeper Trail Campground at Whitetop, VA
  • Whitetop, VA is about an hour north of Boone, NC. and is approximately a 3.5 hour trip – 160 miles one way from Troop 65’s Scout Hut
  • The campground is an actual operating Christmas Tree Farm and is near the beginning (top) of the Creeper Trail near Whitetop, VA
  • Logistics will be handled by the Troop bus / chase vehicle(s) and the outfitters shuttle(s)
  • We have reserved the group site for Friday and Saturday nights
  • Creeper Trail Bike Rentals & Shuttle (located in downtown Damascus, VA) will outfit us with bikes and provide shuttle service like last year.  NOTE:  If you can, bring your own helmet…it will fit better.  If not, a helmet is included in the price

How To Dress for Skiing or Snowboarding
Keep your body warm by dressing in layers to maintain body heat and to stay dry. You will be moving in lots of directions - some planned, some not.
Remember to cover all your skin except your face and allow room for exaggerated movement.
When planning your ski wardrobe, think in layers to adapt to changing weather and always keep the two basic principles in mind: MAINTAIN BODY HEAT AND KEEP DRY.

All trips are subject to change due to weather, scout attitude and availability of adult supervision.
