grayson highlands mt. rogers backpacking trip
May 13-16, 2022

Who's ready for some high adventure? Last year it was an AT experience and this year will not disappoint. We will be backpacking in the Grayson Highlands State Park and summiting Mt. Rogers. This will be right at a 14 mile loop between 4200' and 5800' of elevation with spectacular views, and wild horses. Your lungs will get a full workout on this trip! Click HERE to see the AllTrails detail.

This is a high adventure trip where each scout will "pack in pack out" all their gear. We prefer the scouts be 13 and above for this trip with some backpacking experience. If you are questioning your readieness, please see one of the adult leaders to talk through your situation.

What: Backpacking
Who: Scouts 13 years old and above
Where: Grayson Highlands Mt. Rogers Loop
When: May 13-16
Cost: TBD Fuel Contribution

Philmont Trek Team: This trip will be ran the exact way as the Dutchman's Creek trip we just completed. We will purchase food as a group and share all duties. This trip we will dive deeper into navigation, additional pack weight with carrying dromedary bags, Philmont Dining Fly, and practicing the BEAR-muda Triangle. You can find the details on page 34 of your Philmont 2022 Guidebook to Adventure.
