CHRISTMAS 2015 - ROOM IN THE INN & TROOP 65
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 23, 2015 AT 5:30 AT THE SCOUT HUT (Should be finished by 8:00 PM)
Again this year, Troop 65 will participate in the “ROOM IN THE INN” (RITI) program here at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church (our Chartered Organization). The RITI is a mission program designed to assist the homeless of the Charlotte area by providing shelter, meals, safe sleeping and Christian fellowship during the months of December through March. Over 100 area churches are involved in this mission and Philadelphia Church serves each Wednesday night. This year Troop 65 has obtained stringpacks for scouts to fill with ‘Christmas Goodies’ for our twelve (12) visiting ‘neighbors’ (guests).

We will host 12 ‘neighbors’ (guests) but we don’t know the number of females or males until the last minute. We may also have children, age’s infant through teenagers. We will not know the exact breakdown until they get on the church bus and head toward Mint Hill. We will provide similar unwrapped gifts to each ‘neighbor’ in their backpacks. I would recommend that we have some small gifts for infants and children on hand if necessary. You know the things kids need and like. All items should be brought to the scout hut when you come on December 23rd.
The scouts will meet at the scout hut on Wednesday December 23rd at 5:30 pm to pack the backpacks. The name of each ‘neighbor’ will be on the backpack for delivery. At about 6:30 pm we will deliver the gifts to the ‘neighbors’ in the Kerr Building. We’ll greet them warmly, extend them best wishes and hopefully engage in some conservation or cards or board games. Some ‘neighbors’ enjoy shooting some hoops. Scouts will assist RITI with preparations of the bedding. We should be finished and ready to be dismissed by 8:00 pm.
NOTE: This evening will count as ‘service hours’ as we share our blessings and fellowship with those less fortunate.
Any questions please contact Clark Davenport at H: 704-545-0602 / C: 704-617-1145
