Congaree National Park - Our last camping trip/Hike for 2019 will be at the Congaree National Park near Columbia, SC. Congaree is home to the largest tract of old growth bottom land in the US. These trees from one of the highest temperate deciduous forest canopies in the world. This will be a great opportunity to experience different scenery and learn about the Congaree river and the forest.
Activities: Hiking, camping, cooking, (and eating)_ rank advancement, flag retirement, navigation, and endless opportunities to get away and have fun in the outdoors.
When: Nov. 22-24th
Who: All Scouts/ASM's/Arrow of Lights
Cost: $30 Due NLT Nov. 18th (Pay online or bring cash/check)
More details: We will be camping at a group site with a bathroom nearby. Items can be packed in the a duffle bag or back pack because the walk from the parking lot to the site is less than 100 yards. Troop will provide tents, tarps, stoves, lantern cooking utensils, rope and food. We will shop for food the Thursday night before we leave on this trip. Scouts are to bring personal items such as sleeping bag, ground pad, and personal items. I will send out a packing list in the next week to aid you in packing for this trip.
