Thank you to all the Scouts and adult leaders who attended summer camp at Camp Grimes last week. Scouts had a blast while completing a lot of requirements and earning a lot of merit badges!

NEW MOUNTAIN BIKING TRIP

BEECH MOUNTAIN, NC

JULY 24-25,2026

For our July trip, we will be heading to Beech Mountain Resort, not for skiing, but for downhill mountain biking. From June to October, the ski resort converts its slopes into exciting mountain biking trails - ranging from beginner to intermediate to advanced and even pro level. You can bring your own bike or rent one from the resort.

Outside of mountain biking, Beech Mountain also has a disc golf course that starts at the top with an elevation of 5506' and plays all the way down to the lodge.

For lodging, we will be spending Friday night at the Troop 109 Scout Hut at Boone United Methodist Church. Our plan is to drive back after biking on Saturday with a Saturday evening arrival at the Scout Hut.

NEW WHITEWATER TRIP

OCOEE & NANTAHALA RIVERS

AUGUST 14-16, 2026

What better way to cool down in the dog days of summer than a whitewater rafting trip! For our August outing, we'll be heading to western NC and eastern TN (two rivers for various experience levels) to hit some big water!

Option 1 - Nantahala River, Bryson City, NC: This is the perfect river for newbies. A 3-trip of Class I-II rapids and the final rapid, "Nantahala Falls", a Class III rapid. Minimum age is 7
Option 2 - Ocoee River, Copperhill, TN: A thrill-packed challenge for those experienced in Whitewater. The Ocoee, the site of the 1996 Olympics Whitewater Slalom, features almost non-stop class III-IV rapids over a three-hour ride! Minimum age is 12+

For camping, we will be staying at Woodruff Scout Reservation in Blairsville, GA, near the intersection of the GA, NC and TN border with an hour or less drive to each river.
