SPRING COURT OF HONOR IS MONDAY

KERR BUILDING @ 7PM

We will be recognizing and awarding all ranks and merit badges earned over the spring. Parents, be sure to join us! Please drop off your Scout at the Scout Hut and grab a seat inside the Kerr Building (located right next door)!

UNIFORM IS FULL CLASS A WITH SASH!

Our next PLC is set for Monday, June 1st @ 6:15 pm, before the Court of Honor. Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders, Troop Guides should plan to attend. We will be planning our summer meetings & activities!

Don't forget the proper procedure:

• Speak to Mr. Hall about pursuing this merit badge and obtain a blue card!

Just a reminder, in preparation for the June 1st Court of Honor, please turn in any completed and signed blue cards or have your Merit Badge counselor record your completions in Scoutbook by tomorrow, May 18, at the latest.

We also want to say Happy Mother's Day to all our Scout moms. None of what we do would be possible without your choosing to have Troops 65 & 1265 be your Scouting home. As the saying goes, behind every successful Scout is a mom who believed in the Scout before they believed in themselves!

LAST CALL BACKPACKING TRIP

MAY 15-17 | ROAN HIGHLANDS, NC/TN

NEW DETAILS BELOW!

We're less than a week away from our backpacking trip to the Appalachian Trail in the Roan Highlands. Here are a few important reminders for those attending:

Please review the packing list and itinerary at the link to the right.

• Gear shakedown: Moved from Thursday to Wednesday, still 7:00–9:00 PM. If this is your scout's first backpacking trip, or if you want to make sure everything is packed correctly, please bring their pack to the shakedown.
• Weather update: The current forecast looks great, with temperatures in the low 60s during the day and mid-50s at night. Since forecasts can change quickly, please keep checking for updates throughout the week.

Each scout should bring their own meals:

• 2 breakfasts
• 1 lunch
• 1 dinner

Meal suggestions:

• For breakfast and dinner, backpacking meals like Mountain House or Backpacker's Pantry work well and can be found at Walmart, Academy Sports, or REI.
• For lunch, please avoid meals that require boiling water. Better options include granola bars, crackers, cheese or peanut butter, and jerky.

At Monday's meeting, we'll finalize tent assignments and divide tent parts among tent mates to help share the weight.

If your scout is going on the trip but will not be at Monday's meeting, please let me know so we can plan accordingly.

LAST CALL BACKPACKING TRIP

MAY 15-17 | ROAN HIGHLANDS, NC/TN

RSVP BY MAY 8TH!

Our next camping trip is our annual backpacking trip. This spring, we are visiting one of the most beautiful sections of the Appalachian Trail - the Roan Highlands and Carver's Gap!

We again are offering two different options:

• Experienced Backpackers: 14.3-mile trip that will travel one of the most beautiful sections of the Appalachian Trail - Carver's Gap to US 19E

• 1st-Time Backpackers: 6.2-mile trip visiting Massie Gap & Yellow Mountain

   

Both trips will see (hopefully) the gorgeous rhododendrons.

Please note: This is true backpacking - a pack in and pack out event, carrying everything on your back.

Click the appropriate button to RSVP or the check out the packing list and itinerary. Note, some of the gear listed below can/will be shared such as tents.

The cost for this trip will be only fuel contribution and the shuttle from the ending location of the hike. The cost for this trip will be $25 per person.
