NEW MOUNTAIN BIKING TRIP

BEECH MOUNTAIN, NC

JULY 24-25,2026

For our July trip, we will be heading to Beech Mountain Resort, not for skiing, but for downhill mountain biking. From June to October, the ski resort converts its slopes into exciting mountain biking trails - ranging from beginner to intermediate to advanced and even pro level. You can bring your own bike or rent one from the resort. 

Outside of mountain biking, Beech Mountain also has a disc golf course that starts at the top with an elevation of 5506' and plays all the way down to the lodge.

For lodging, we will be spending Friday night at the Troop 109 Scout Hut at Boone United Methodist Church. Our plan is to drive back after biking on Saturday with a Saturday evening arrival at the Scout Hut.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ SUMMER CAMP UPDATES

We are now just a week away from departing for summer camp and we have some very, very important updates, so please read!!!

• Packing List Update: we have received our campsite assignment and the site where we are staying has Adirondacks, which means Scouts will need a camping pad or mattress. Please review the packing list this week!

• Swim tests: Ms. Wilson has worked hard and arranged to use her neighborhood pool at various times this week. Please click the button to choose a time slot. If you cannot make it to any of these, you will need to be tested after we check-in at camp on Sunday.
• Departure info: we have been assigned a 2:30 pm check-in time at camp. As a result, we have adjusted the arrival time to the Scout Hut to 12:15 pm with a goal of departing at 12:45 pm. With the later time, we will not be stopping for lunch so make sure your Scout has eaten before arrival. If you would like to drive your Scout up to camp, please let Mr. Hall know and you can join our caravan to Camp Grimes.

Finally, we will be reaching out this week for anyone with outstanding payments due or incomplete medical forms. Please pay close attention to your email this week.

REMINDER SUMMER CAMP @ CAMP GRIMES

We are now just two weeks away from Summer Camp 2026! Please be sure to pay attention to emails over the next week and half regarding any outstanding fees, medical form status, final departure information and more. We are also working on securing a facility in which to hold unit swim tests for summer camp. We hope that this will be solidified in the next few days. A signup for swim tests will be sent out as soon as we have the logistics worked out.
