Thank you to all the Scouts who sacrificed their weekends to go to Burnsville and help a non-profit in aiding those affected by Hurricane Helene. Bald Creek Relief told Mr. Cavalline as we left yesterday that Troop 65 is by far the most impactful Scouting unit that has volunteered with them. All of you made a tangible difference for that community -- you lived out the essence of Scout Spirit!

New Mint Hill Christmas Parade

Build Night: Fri, Dec 6th | 7 - 9 pm

Parade: Sat, Dec 7th | 4:30-6:30 pm

For the 5th consecutive year, Troop 65 and Pack 65 are teaming up to walk in the Mint Hill Christmas Parade. We will be hosting a Deckin The Float build night on the evening of Friday, December 6th.The parade steps off the next day, December 7th at 5:30 pm. Reminder Summer Camp RSVP

June 22-28th | Woodruff Scout Camp

We are now nearing the first deadline for Summer Camp 2025! The initial deposit deadline has been extended by the Camp until November 15th. We now have a link below to sign up to attend! Note - this deposit is refundable until February 1st.

For our 2025 Summer Camp, we are headed to Woodruff Scout Camp in Blairsville, GA (near GA, NC and TN border)! We already have details about the camp ready for you to review - just click the button below!

Reminder AutoBell Fundraiser

Orders due to Mrs. Adams by 12/9

Help support Troop 65 and earn $$$ for your scout account by selling AutoBell Giftcards! Mrs. Adams has coordinated with AutoBell to allow Scouts to sell $20 gift cards sell with 50% of the proceeds going to the Troop. Out of that $10 per card sold, $7 will go to the Troop, and while $3 goes to your Scout account for recharter or trips. Gift cards can be used at any participating Autobell and never expire. These make great for holiday gifts or to use for yourself throughout the year!

Please note, final sales numbers are due Monday December 9, with delivery by Monday December 16th. You can sell cards via a pre-sale form you can obtain from Mrs. Adams or via our online sales site. Click the buttons below for whichever option you prefer!

Scoutbook only gives registered leaders access to the Merit Badge Counselor lists. However, in an effort to make it easier for everyone, we created this website listing all merit badges with Eagle required highlighted in blue

Don't forget the proper procedure:

• Choose which merit badge you would like to earn
• Contact the counselor
• Speak to Mr. Hall about pursuing this merit badge and obtain a blue card!

2024 Thanksgiving Eve Parade | Nov 27th

NEW Novant Thanksgiving  

Parade Volunteers

November 27th

Last call for volunteers to help out at and get to watch the 78th Annual Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade in Uptown Charlotte. We need at least 15 Scouts to act as ushers for the seating area for the parade and to help with the Cookies with Santa event prior to the parade. This will result in a small donation to the Troop.

NEW Hurricane Helene Recovery Camping Trip

November 22-24 | Burnsville, NC

We apologize this has taken so long to get organized, but after clearing multiple hurdles, we finally have an organization with which we can volunteer to help with recovery from Hurricane Helene.

We are coordinating with Troop 502 in Burnsville to assist Bald Creek Relief with accepting, sorting and organizing supplies as well as assisting in the continued cleanup effort.

Please note, our camping location will not have access to running water so meals will be backpacking meals.

The Troop PLC voted to meet on Monday, November 4th despite CMS not having school as our UCPS and Charter School families do have school on Monday. We will not have a meeting on November 11th as that is a mandated state holiday.

□□ SAVE THE DATE! NEXT CAMPOUT IS SET FOR NOVEMBER 22-24TH □□

As we have announced at our meetings, we are planning to make this campout a service trip to assist with recovery in Western North Carolina through organizing supplies or rebuilding in some of the impacted areas. We are still finalizing the logistics and hope to have a signup available by Tuesday.

NEW Volunteer Opportunities

November 9th & November 27th

We have two volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks for Scouts to earn service hours. 

First on Saturday, November 9th, we again are helping with the Mint Hill Veterans' Breakfast at Arlington Baptist. We need adults to assist with parking and Scouts to help greet and serve the breakfast.

Then on November 27th, we have a great opportunity to volunteer with the 78th Annual Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade in Uptown Charlotte. We need at least 15 Scouts to act as ushers for the seating area for the parade and to help with the Cookies with Santa event prior to the parade

Reminder Haunted Woods 2025

Workday for Next Fall | November 9th

As you know, we made the tough decision to postpone the Haunted Woods Fundraiser to 2025 in order to provide the best possible product.  With that said, we are still working to prepare for next year!  

We plan to have another workday on 11/9 to work on building the haunted house facade.  With a full year to plan, we hope to have everything ready to go well in advance so that we can simply set it up when the time comes.  We appreciate everyone taking time to help us get this done!

Reminder Philmont Trek 2026

July 19-31, 2026 | Cimarron, NM

We have secured a spot for a 12-Day trek at Philmont Scout Reservation in Summer 2026! The expedition will arrive at Philmont on July 19, 2026 and will return home on July 31.  We have spots for 12 people: 4 adults and 8 scouts. 

The 12-Day Reservation fee is $1,725.00/person with payment schedule as follows:

• Deposit of $150.00/person due 12/1/2024
• Advance of $787.50/person due 10/1/2025
• Balance of $787.50/person due 3/1/2026

Youth need to be 14 years old OR 13 years old and completed 8th grade by our departure date.
 
Please let us know if you are interested and committed to making the trip NO LATER THAN November 11.  We will collect the non-refundable deposit of $150 by Nov 18 so we can send a check to Philmont to hold the spot.

Help Needed Hurricane Relief

While Hurricane Helene hit over a month ago, the need for help in Western North Carolina still very much exists. There will be many more opportunities to help directly through the troop in the future that we are coordinating now. Until then, I have included links to both the Red Cross and Salvation Army donation portals for financial donations. I have also included a link to Daniel Boone Council, the Scouting Council in the Asheville area, which is taking donations to help scouts replace uniforms, patches, handbooks and more.

Please give as you are able!
