2025 Congaree National Park Trip Itinerary & Packing List
Departure from Scout Hut - Friday, October 10th

What Clothing to Bring:
Gear:
- Please arrive at Hut at 5:30 pm to drop gear and load trailer. We need to depart by 6:30 pm arrive at the Park by 8:30 pm
- Scouts need to be in full class A uniforms for departure
- We will not be stopping for dinner so please make sure your Scouts are fed before arriving or choose to add a Chick-fil-a Boxed Meal to your RSVP!
Arrival back at Scout Hut - Sunday, October 12th
- Estimated arrival back at Hut is 12:00 pm. Updates on ETA will come through Band and Text via Scoutbook. This is not when Scouts are cleared to leave.
- Scouts need to help unload Troop gear, unpack leftover food and clean up before being dismissed
- Please pack some snacks or extra cash for a gas station stop on the way back to Mint Hill

Payment:
- The cost of the trip is $25 per Scout which includes transportation, campsite fee and groceries.
- There is an option to add on a Chick-Fil-A boxed meal for dinner on Friday night. This will add on approximately $10
- We need payment before they depart on Friday. If food/gas costs end up lower, we will refund any excess to Scout accounts.
- Please send extra money with your Scout(s) for in case we stop for a snack on the way home.
Weather
- Hi/Lo Temps:
- Friday Night: Mid-60s and cloudy at our arrival; overnight lows in upper 50s with cloudy conditions
- Saturday: Partly cloudy with highs in mid-70s and overnight lows in mid 50s
- Sunday: Party cloudy with temps in mid-60s at our departure
- Rain: Very low chance of showers on Saturday morning. However, don't forget the weather can change at a moment's notice so be sure to Be Prepared!
What Clothing to Bring:
- Scout Uniform - Class A & B
- Short sleeve t-shirt
- Shorts and/or Pants depending on how chilled you get
- Long-sleeve Shirt (could be useful at night)
- Hat
- Underwear
- PJs/something to wear to bed
- Light jacket for night
- Hiking Shoes/Boots with good tread (No CROCS!)
- Rain Gear
Gear:
- Backpack or Duffel Bag
- Day pack with Scout 10 essentials
- Tent & Footprint (No need to bring if you already have a tent mate and arrangements to use a troop tent or your tentmate's tent)
- Ground Sleeping Pad
- Sleeping Bag rated to 50 degrees or below
- Pillow
- Mess Kit
- Personal First Aid Kit
- Water Bottle (filled up before arriving at hut)
- Water purification method (purification tablets, water filter, etc)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap & shampoo if you plan to take a shower)
- Small Towel
- Toilet Paper – ½ roll (just in case)
- Headlamp or Flashlight w/ extra batteries
- Camp chair
- Deck of Playing Cards/Game (optional)
- Ball/Frisbee (optional)
- Knife (Totin’ Chip Required)

- Extra money for convenience store stop (we will likely make a stop on the way home on Sunday)
