2026 Etowah Camporee Itinerary & Packing List
Thursday - April 16th
Departure from Scout Hut - Friday, April 17th

What Clothing to Bring:
Gear:
- 7:00 PM – Grubmasters' Grocery Shopping at Food Lion (8118 Blair Rd, Mint Hill, NC)
- In an effort to maximize time and efficiency, only the Scouts selected to grocery shop will do so on Thursday at 7pm. I will contact these families directly in a separate email on Wednesday, April 15th
- If your scout is one of those, please drop them off at the Food Lion on Blair Rd (right near the church) to shop for our groceries for the weekend
- Scouts can be picked up at 8:00 pm at the Scout Hut
- 8:00 PM - Gear Drop (optional)
- Drop off your gear for trip early as you likely don't need the gear on Friday before the trip
- Pack toiletries in day pack to allow use on Friday before we depart
Departure from Scout Hut - Friday, April 17th
- Please arrive at Hut at 6:00 pm to drop gear and load trailer. Our aim is to depart by 6:30 pm to arrive at Belk by 6:45 pm
- Scouts need to be in full class A uniforms for departure
- We will not be stopping for dinner so please make sure your Scouts are fed before arriving or choose to add a Chick-fil-a Boxed Meal to your RSVP!
Arrival back at Scout Hut - Sunday, April 18th
- Estimated arrival back at Hut is 9:30 am. Updates on ETA will come through Band and Text via Scoutbook. This is not when Scouts are cleared to leave.
- Scouts need to help unload Troop gear, unpack leftover food and clean up before being dismissed

Payment:
- The cost of the trip is $25 per Scout which covers groceries for the weekend as well as registration fees for camporee
- There is an option to add on a Chick-Fil-A boxed meal for dinner on Friday night. This will add on approximately $10
- We need payment before they depart on Friday. If food costs end up lower, we will refund any excess to Scout accounts.
Weather
- We are too far out for an accurate forecast, but below are the averages for mid-April at Belk
- Hi/Lo Temps:
- Friday: Upper 60s when we arrive at Belk | Low: upper 40s/low 50s
- Saturday: Mid 70s | Low: upper 40s/low 50s
- Sunday: Low 50s when we depart Belk
- Rain: We know the saying about April showers, so we will update this as we get closer. And remember - the weather can change at a moment's notice, it is best to Be Prepared!
What Clothing to Bring:

- Long-sleeve shirt/sweatshirt/fleece (for evenings/night)
- Underwear
- PJs/something to wear to bed
- Good hiking socks and boots/hiking shoes (no CROCS!)
- Rain Gear
Gear:
- Backpack or Duffel Bag
- Day pack
- Tent & Footprint (Only if you are not using a Troop tent)
- Ground Sleeping Pad
- Sleeping Bag rated to 30 degrees or below
- Please note - bag temperature ratings are survivability ratings not comfortability ratings. If a bag says it is a 30 degree bag, it will keep you live at 30, but you will not be warm.
- Pillow
- Mess Kit
- Personal First Aid Kit
- Water Bottle (filled up before arriving at hut)
- Water purification method (purification tablets, water filter, etc)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap & shampoo if you plan to take a shower)
- Small Towel
- Toilet Paper – ½ roll (just in case)
- Headlamp or Flashlight w/ extra batteries
