· Parents (and siblings) are invited to come Saturday (Sept 22nd) for the Dinner and Court of Honor
· We will be holding a family dinner at Belk Scout camp to allow parents of scouts in Troop 65 to observe the patrol in action. Parents will be treated to a meal prepared by the scouts of Troop 65 and you will be special guests at our summer Court of Honor.
· To put on this event and still adhere to the principles and methods of the scouting program, we ask that parents in attendance function as observers only so the troop and patrols can function as they would on any other scouting event where parents are not in attendance.
· The expectation of the upcoming Camporee in October is for all troops to be led by the boy leaders. It is important that the scout leadership not be compromised and that our Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Quartermaster and Patrol Leaders are allowed to lead the troop with as little outside influence as possible.
· Thanks for being in attendance as we work to help our troop and its leaders “Be Prepared” for the upcoming Camporee – Scoutmaster Hawkins

New River Float Trip

What: New River Float Trip (Dual Trips)
Here’s the high-level plan.
- We will ALL camp together at the NC New River State Park (US 221) at the group campsite on Friday night
- On Saturday, the 1st class and above Scouts will Funyak, Kayak or Canoe down the New River to an overnight, boat-in only campsite on the river. On Sunday, they will break camp and float to the take-out 3 miles down-river.
- Meanwhile, the 2nd class and below Scouts will be in Inner-tubes and float the New River on Saturday and be shuttled back to the NC New River State Park (US 221) to stay Saturday night
When: Friday, June 22 – Sunday, June 24, 2012
Costs: $43.50 for the Tube Trip; $50.50 for the Kayak/Canoe Trip – estimated

Since this is a water trip, safety is a very high priority. YOU MUST COMPLETE the following training:

Day Ski Trip Mon 1/23/2012 to Appalachian Ski Mountain & Snow Sports Merit Badge Monday, Jan 23th – Depart for Ski Trip at (7:15am) -- Return from Ski Trip (between 8:00-9:00pm) $55 includes: lift ticket, skis, boots, group lesson, transportation, lunch/snacks/drinks. Snowboard is an additional $5 Mr. French will be offering the Snow Sports Merit Badge for those interested. When: Snow Sports MB Worksheet Workshop – Monday, January 9th at 6:00pm – Scout Hut.
