2026 Huntington Beach State Park Trip Itinerary & Packing List

Thursday - January 15th

7:00 PM – Grubmasters' Grocery Shopping at Food Lion (8118 Blair Rd, Mint Hill, NC)
- In an effort to maximize time and efficiency, only the Scouts selected to grocery shop will do so on Thursday at 7pm. I will contact these families directly in a separate email on Wednesday, January 14th
- If your scout is one of those, please drop them off at the Food Lion on Blair Rd (right near the church) to shop for our groceries for the weekend
- Scouts can be picked up at 8:00 pm at the Scout Hut
8:00 PM - Gear Drop (optional)
- Drop off your gear for trip early as you likely don't need the gear on Friday or Saturday before the trip
- Pack toiletries in day pack to allow use before we depart

Departure from Scout Hut - Saturday, January 17th

Please arrive at Hut at 9:30 am to drop gear and load trailer. We need to depart by 10:00 am arrive at the Park by 2:00 pm when campground check-in begins
- Scouts need to be in full class A uniforms for departure
- With the mid-morning departure for the camping trip, we will be stopping for lunch on the way. Please send your scout with money for a fast-food stop or pack them a lunch for the trip!

Arrival back at Scout Hut - Monday, November 19th

Estimated arrival back at Hut is 1:00 pm. Updates on ETA will come through Band and Text via Scoutbook. This is not when Scouts are cleared to leave.
- Scouts need to help unload Troop gear, unpack leftover food and clean up before being dismissed
- Please pack some snacks or extra cash for a gas station stop on the way back to Mint Hill

- Camp should have some cell phone service so please feel free to text Mr. Cavalline (704) 400-2945 or Mr. Strand (919) 744-5986 if you need to contact the Troop.

Payment:

The cost of the trip is $40 per Scout which includes transportation, campsite fee and groceries.
- With our adjusted departure day for the holiday weekend, we will be stopping for lunch on the way on Saturday. Please send your Scout with some money or send them with a packed lunch
We need payment before they depart on Friday. If food/gas costs end up lower, we will refund any excess to Scout accounts.
Please send extra money with your Scout(s) for in case we stop for a snack on the way home.

Hi/Lo Temps: We are too far out for an accurate forecast, but below are the averages for this time of year
- Saturday: Partly Cloudy | Highs in Upper 50s; overnight lows in upper-30s
- Sunday: Partly Cloudy | Highs in around 50; overnight lows in upper-20s
- Monday: Temps at departure in upper-30s
Rain: We will update as we get closer to the date. However, don't forget the weather can change at a moment's notice so be sure to Be Prepared!

Day pack with Scout 10 essentials
Tent & Footprint (No need to bring if you already have a tent mate and arrangements to use a troop tent or your tentmate's tent)
Ground Sleeping Pad
Sleeping Bag rated to 20 degrees or below
Pillow
Mess Kit
Personal First Aid Kit
Water Bottle (filled up before arriving at hut)
Water purification method (purification tablets, water filter, etc)
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Handwarmers
Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap & shampoo if you plan to take a shower)

Toilet Paper – ½ roll (just in case)
