2024 HURRICANE RECOVERY TRIP ITINERARY AND PACKING LIST
Drop off at Scout Hut - Friday, November 22nd

What Clothing to Bring:
Gear:
- Please arrive at Hut at 5:30 pm to load trailer
- Unlike typical trips, we will load the trailer as much as possible and have Scouts setup sleeping gear in Kerr Building
- The Troop will provide dinner and movie for Scouts on Friday Night and light breakfast on Saturday morning
- Troop will depart Kerr Building at 6:00 am on Saturday to drive to Burnsville in daylight conditions
- Scouts need to be in full class A uniforms for departure
Arrival back at Scout Hut - Sunday, November 24th
- Estimated arrival back at Hut is 1:30 pm. Updates on ETA will come through Band and Text via Scoutbook. This is not when Scouts are cleared to leave.
- Scouts need to help unload Troop gear, unpack leftover food and clean up before being dismissed
- Please pack some snacks or extra cash for a gas station stop on the way back to Mint Hill

Payment:
- The troop is footing costs outside of each Scout's individual backpacking meals for Saturday night and Sunday morning
- We do ask that each Scout bring supplies that we can deliver to Bald Creek Relief. Click here to access to their current needs!
- Please send extra money with your Scout(s) for a snack on the way home.
Weather
- Hi/Lo Temps: The early forecast for our weekend is low 40s for highs and upper 20s at night - Pack appropriate cold weather gear!
- Rain: Right now, it looks to only be cloudy with little-to-no chance of rain, but the weather in the mountains can change at a moment's notice so be sure to Be Prepared!
What Clothing to Bring:
- Scout Uniform - Class A & B
- Pants
- Long-sleeve Shirt
- Hat
- Underwear
- Base layer / insulated underwear / long-johns
- PJs/something to wear to bed
- Sweatshirt/fleece
- Winter coat
- Boots and Warm Socks (No CROCS!)
- Winter Hat & Gloves
- Rain Gear (weather is TBD, but you should be prepared…it’s the mountains)
Gear:
- Backpack or Duffel Bag
- Day pack
- Tent & Footprint (No need to bring if you already have a tent mate and arrangements to use a troop tent or your tent mate's tent)
- Ground Sleeping Pad
- Sleeping Bag rated to 20 degrees or below
- Pillow
- Mess Kit
- Backpacking Stove (if you don't have one, there will be ones you can borrow)
- Backpacking meals (a dinner for Saturday night and a breakfast for Sunday morning) and a meal for Saturday lunch (another backpacking meal, lunchable or other pre-packaged food). You can purchase backpacking meals at Walmart, Academy and REI.
- Personal First Aid Kit
- Water Bottle
- Sunscreen
- Hand warmers
- Sunglasses
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap & shampoo if you plan to take a shower)
- Small Towel
- Toilet Paper – ½ roll (just in case)
