Uwharrie Backpacking
Cold Weather Camping 2022
What: Cold Weather Backpacking & Camping
When: March 4 - 6 (weather dependent)
Were: Uwharrie Mountains
Cost: $5 (fuel is the only cost so this may fluctuate slightly based on attendance)
We will be journeying not to far from home to have a great weekend backpacking in the Uwharrie Mountains. This will be a pack in and pack out event on the Dutchman's Creek Trail Loop. You can find the info about the trail HERE.
Keep in mind for this trip you will need some specific gear which I will list below (THIS IS NOT THE COMPLETE LIST). Some of these items the troop may be able to provide on a as needed basis but you will have to let us know you need it well in ADVANCE!
The total distance will be right at 13 miles. We completed this trail last year and it is worth noting that you should be physically fit to carry your gear over this distance. A shakedown of your pack will be required prior to the trek.
If you are part of the Philmont Trek, we HIGHLY suggest you attend all backpacking events including this one.
I'm happy to answer any questions.
