New River Float Trip
To: Troop 65 – All Ages, All Ranks

What: New River Float Trip (Dual Trips)
Here’s the high-level plan.
- We will ALL camp together at the NC New River State Park (US 221) at the group campsite on Friday night
- On Saturday, the 1st class and above Scouts will Funyak, Kayak or Canoe down the New River to an overnight, boat-in only campsite on the river. On Sunday, they will break camp and float to the take-out 3 miles down-river.
- Meanwhile, the 2nd class and below Scouts will be in Inner-tubes and float the New River on Saturday and be shuttled back to the NC New River State Park (US 221) to stay Saturday night
When: Friday, June 22 – Sunday, June 24, 2012
Costs: $43.50 for the Tube Trip; $50.50 for the Kayak/Canoe Trip – estimated
Payments: Tara O’Brien
Since this is a water trip, safety is a very high priority. YOU MUST COMPLETE the following training:
1. Adults are to complete Safety Afloat Training and Safe Swim Defense Training (online)
2. Adults to complete First Aid Training (Scheduled for May 30th)
3. Scouts to complete a 2012 Swimming Assessment (Roger Hagy to coordinate). NOTE: Assessment also counts for the Summer Camp Swimming.
