Merit Badge Counselor
As the 2020 Scouting year has been delayed due to Covid-19, we are adapting our means and methods in an effort to move the Scouts forward in their advancement and merit badge achievements. For those adults interested in helping expand our troop's merit badge offering, here is what's needed in order to become a merit badge counselor.1. Fill out an Adult Application completely including ssn and background check disclosure (https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/524-501.pdf)
1. Fill out a Merit Badge Counselor Information Form (https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34405.pdf)
2. Take the Youth Protection Training at my.scouting.org Print a copy of the completion certificate to turn in with your other paperwork.
3. Mail or deliver all completed paperwork to the Council Registrar, Michelle Roberts, at 1410 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
The following merit badges require additional qualifications or certifications as decided by the advancement committee to improve safety and to manage risks: Archery, Canoeing, Climbing, Kayak- ing, Lifesaving, Rifle Shooting, Rowing, Scuba Diving, Shotgun Shooting, Snow Sports, Swimming, and Whitewater. To renew your counselor registration for any of these 12 badges please be ready to provide verification of your current qualifications.
